Fit the post
Posted by Unknown on 15th Sep 2018
Someone unknown drove too close to my 5 year old mailbox on its shelf at the road and crumpled the door so it couldn't be closed properly any more. They must have gotten a nasty gash on their car or truck but I never heard from anyone. I removed the door and used it that way until I was able to locate its exact replacement, which was important because it was much easier to fit it to its existing shelf than making a new one. Living on rural roads in Vermont can make mailboxes subject to many hazards - snow plows, snow drifts, falling branches, wayward vehicles ... and in 35 years I have had good results with the extra large Fulton mailbox at 3 different houses. They are hardy, practical, a good investment and reasonably priced if you need a replacement.

My old extra large Fulton mailbox is over 40 years old and probably would have been good for another 40 years if it had not been badly damaged by a falling limb. My old mailbox is 18 inches tall and I wish that size was still available. We are happy that Fulton mailboxes still have metal door latches and flags. Thank you, Fulton, for offering a top-quality product.

I can't tell you how long I searched for a larger version of the basic standard rural mailbox, made in USA with NO plastic parts, including the flag. My old mailbox is a smaller version of this, all-metal, made in USA and mounted with a metal bracket underneath to a round steel post. The old box is probably over 50 years old and covered in rust. I was determined to find a larger version of my old box that I knew would last just as long. This is it! A friend of mine who builds auto-frames is going to build a new bracket for underneath the larger box to clamp to the 2" round steel post, using the old box as a pattern. A machine shop could also do this. I'm very pleased with the mailbox. I've never seen one builth with this level of quality in ANY of my local big box stores.

While this was only recently installed everything seems just peachy. I like the volume of space as I get a lot of packages. It was delivered on time in good condition.
If it stands up to wear and tear I will give it 5 stars.

I was very impressed with the quality of the material. The material is durable and able to stand up over time. When I received the box there was slight damage to the bottom corners. Luckily the handles to the lid and box were not damaged or I would have returned it. I can live with the slight dent at the bottom. A suggestion to the company for future packaging. Make the box bigger and fit the mail box inside a Styrofoam cover so the Styrofoam gets hit not the edges. There were several holes in the box where the handles and the corners had broken and torn the box during shipping. This is such a great quality item I would hate to see sales drop because the items are being damaged in shipping. All in all I would highly recommend this item.

I got this mailbox because I was looking for something of this size, but sturdier than what you could find at the big box stores. This mailbox lives up to what I had expected! It's very sturdy. All metal... no plastic on the handle. This is probably the best quality mailbox you can find. I am very pleased with my purchase and the shipping wasn't as high as some other places would charge. Well worth the money.

This is a great mailbox, that replaced our similar mailbox of the same size. I searched and searched all over Google and Amazon and found this brand on Amazon, yet they didn't sell it. It was the only one that came with a metal flag, this is important as I don't want to replace the mailbox every few years.

I looked at local lumber companies, the 'big box' hardware stores, etc and didn't find a sturdy mailbox. Online at Amazon, the Fulton was rated the best by several buyers. I wanted a solid, all steel mailbox that was huge like the farmers used when I was younger, and the Fulton mailbox met all of my expectations. Absolutely no plastic parts, and made in the USA. I highly recommend this mailbox and my mail carrier stopped to tell me how much she liked it, as well.

Two large sturdy, heavy-gauge steel mailboxes are finally at end-of-life after 40 years of service. An online search produced one source of replacements that appeared to sell mailboxes of equal quality, Fulton Corporation. The replacements have proved almost identical to the originals. All of four of them must be Fulton mailboxes, the best available at any price, and still manufactured in Fulton, Michigan, USA.
